The first 18 years

I was born on August 18th (Leo), 1975 (Rabbit) in Lynn Ma. I have two brothers (twins) and a sister. All younger then me. I originally begin living in Chelsea and moved to Saugus when I was 8. It was a hard adjustment for me to go from Chelsea to Saugus. The only good thing that came from living in Saugus was meeting my best friend, Lucas. We met at summer camp when we were ten and we were friends ever since.

While I lived in Saugus, I played street hockey up at Hockeytown and I began to learn how to play pool from my grandfather. I also began my on again, off again gym visits. I never really consistantly went to the gym until last year. I also spent summers playing street hockey and basktball. Spent winters play tackle football. We even built a shack (we called it the clubhouse) behind my parent's house. It survived hurricanes, snow storms and bugs. We eventually took it down. I graduated from Saugus High in 1993 and went on the Northeatern University.

1993 - 1999

Since I was 6, I always wanted to be a radio DJ. I even practiced with my friends. It was like a game. What drew me to Northeastern rather then Mass College of Pharmacy was WRBB. I checked out the radio station the first day I stepped onto campus. I met alot of people from various backgrounds at WRBB. It was more then just a student group, it is a real radio station that reaches out to the city of Boston.

I earned my radio license while attending pharmacy classes. In 1995, my morning show, The Rob and Gang morning show, was launched on January 4. With the help of my best friend Lucas and a few seniors, I molded the show into a popular daily show that served as the launching pad for many hip-hop and R&B acts in Boston. We ran plenty of funny bits, some even too raunchy for regular radio. Ad libbing was the fuel of the show most of the time. Eventually, other things began to pan out such as interviews with some of music's best performers like 98 Degrees, Redman, Method Man and Eminem.

The show was originally on Tuesday mornings from 6 to 10 am. From there, it went on Mondays also. This is unusually from a college radio show to be on more then once a week. It became more unusual when it went five days a week like a professional radio show. We had over 25 members through out the five wonderful years. The final show in 1999 was something amazing as Boston's old school representative Ed O.G freestyled with an up and coming rapper named Checkmark.

At times, I would host other shows. The Midnight Cafe brought out another side of me. On this show, I turned down the lights and turned up the slow jams. I took phone calls all night for requests and dedications. As much as I loves hip-hop, slow jams has been a bigger passion of mine, no pun intended.

One of my last shows, the Sunday Afternoon Flava, brought out all the local artists. I also played new music from well known artists as well as underground rappers. But nothing was more exciting then having local artists come up to the studio to talk and freestyle.

I also traveled around the Northeast to broadcast baseball and basketball games for Northeastern. I enjoyed the little vacations when each weekend of the season and found myself in a different city like Durham, NH and Orono ME.

Interview history: This is a summary of most of the interviews I did from 1993 to 1999. Off of this page, you will soon find the individual stories behind some of the interviews. I will also be uploading some of the interviews.

Along with doing the Rob and Gang morning show, I also had a hand in bringing back the Saturday Afternoon Flava, Midnight Cafe and the Squared Circle. I spent a season with the NU Huskies Baseball and Basketball radio announce team. I had the chance to travel to Philadelphia, Orono ME, and get lost in upstate New Hampshire. I also served a year as News Director (which was certainly the high point of the morning show) and Engineer before graduating Northeastern in 1999 with a degree in business management and marketing. I graduated along side of some of the best students in the entire school. The class of 1999 had student leaders from all groups including the Northeastern News, LASO, and CUP.

1999 - 2000

Since leaving Northeastern, I spent a year with Cellular One (now Cingular Wireless), nine months with Broadband 2 Wireless, and almost two years with AT&T Broadband. Primarily, I have worked front line customer service but worked into my interests such marketing and management.

The nine months with Broadband 2 Wireless were certainly the best time I had since leaving Northeastern. Broadband 2 Wireless was an idea by Paul Adams and Ric Fulop. Shortly after leaving Cellular One, I moved to my grandparents in Malden while they were in Florida and then found my own place in Malden. The company was set up to compete head on with the cable companies for a share of the broadband growth. Only instead of using a cable line, we used the public radio spectrum at the 2.4 Gigahertz. The fun part was going out and doing the work to make the company happen. I worked with some of the best in the computer industry such as Tom Legg, Bob Carrick and Simon Garfinkel. After nine months, the company ran out of money, the venture capitalists stopped investing and I was released. The company tried to continue on but after a few more months, the company filed for bankruptcy.

2001 to present

My career has lead me to join AT&T Broadband in May of 2001. I started off in the Allston call center which also allowed me to do some more work on WRBB. In 2001, Comcast bought up all of AT&T Broadband. Comcast is a good company to work for. I continued to work in customer service dealing with technical issues mostly. Every now and then, I received those calls from people who bitch and complain. Some of them are legitimate concerns others are just idiotic. But the benefits are good (free cable) and I love the people who I work with. Its a company in progress since the time I started working there (Cablevision through AT&T Broadband to Comcast).

In 2003, I moved from Malden to Chelmsford so I am closer to work. Its really nice up here and I also live close to a lot of my co-workers. I have new restaurants to explore and bars to hang out at. Best of all, I have a pool to use during the summer and a grill that I can use at any time. I have figured out that night time grilling is near impossible without the use of floodlights. I miss living close to Boston and having the ability to jump on the T and ride into Boston. To get anywhere up here, you either have to drive or deal with the local bus.

After standing on the sidelines for many years, I have jumped back into the world of Boston hip-hop. I have found some new and old people to work with in trying to unify Boston hip-hop to once again try to put it back on the map.
